Growing up, I remember going for dinner at the Green Lantern restaurant along Route 40 in Effingham. It was a rather fancy establishment for our rural area. The menu was extensive but my favorites were the pizza, relish trays and kitty cocktails (AKA Shirley Temples). Listening to the jukebox was a thrill, as well. I think we went nearly each week for years, so the staff became friends. Sadly the Green Lantern burnt down in 2007 and was never rebuilt.
