The Hartke Sunset Trucker Hat was originally created after a suggestion from my husband, Kristen, who wanted to see a new interpretation of the Hartke symbol. When he started wearing it out, the compliments came quickly — and this version officially joined the Melvin Roy lineup.
The Hartke design traces back to childhood creativity — inspired by the playful way I once drew my own name:
Court + Knee + Heart + Key.
Over time, that childhood sketch evolved into one of the most meaningful symbols in the Melvin Roy brand. The key represents Melvin Roy’s initials, while the wings reflect a message I once received that my dad would watch over us in the form of a hawk.
